Viajero Salento Hostel - Popular hostel in town
The Viajero Salento Hostel is one of the most popular hostels in town.
It’s the largest hostel in Salento, with a variety of dorm rooms and private rooms. They also own other hostels around Colombia and South America.
Viajero is located near the mains square, but still in the middle of nature, surrounded by a large and beautiful garden.
Each day, free activities are organized: yoga lessons, Spanish classes, dance classes, and the occasional bonfire. This is the type of place where you can loose yourself for weeks!
You can also book your tours in the area, right at the front desk. That’s quite convenient in a town like Salento!
Breakfast is included in your room price and there’s an on-site bar.
Note: this hostel is large and it can be crowded at times!
La Casa Hostal de Lili - Small cozy hostel in the center
La Casa de Lili is a small hostel right in the heart of Salento. The place has only 1 dorm and 2 private rooms, but we definitely enjoyed staying there a lot!
The hostel is located in the pittoresque Calle Real, so you get some lively street views from the balcony.
There’s also a rooftop terrace at the back.
This hostal is frequently visited by Colombians from all over the country, so it’s a great place to practise your Spanish and mingle with locals.
Breakfast is not included in the room price, but there’s a kitchen you can use.
Pro tip: stay in the dorm or the large private room as they have a balcony with street view.
Hostel Tralala - Best backpacker hostel
Hostel Tralala is an all-time backpacker favorite in Salento. It has been around for a long time and they know exactly what you need when arriving in Salento!
The hostel is located very close to the main city square in a typical Colombia house with a beautiful patio.
Even though a lot of fun is to be had in this hostel, there’s a rule to have silence after 22h.
You can get a very budget-friendly dorm, a private room, or even a private apartment in this hostel.
Yambolombia Hostel - Best hostel outside of town
Yambolombia Hostel is a basic, but cute hostel, located about 2,5 km from Salento, which is a little over 30 minutes walking. But you can also get a taxi or jeep from the main square.
With it’s location outside of town, you get spectacular natural views and at night, you can see millions of stars! At night, there’s a bonfire you can light up with the other guests.
Travelers go to this hostel for the peace and quiet. And for the amazing views, of course.
Breakfast is not included in the room price, but it is healthy and delicious! Other meals are also available at the hostel.
In Yambolombia, you can get cheap dorm beds and very affordable private rooms.
Puente de la Explanation - Beautiful eco lodge outside of town
This eco lodge is located in Boquia, a few kilometers outside of Salento. Travelers love this place because it’s just a little piece of heaven in Colombia.
Even though it’s outside of town, they have a shuttle service to help you getting around.
Puente de la Explanation is a relatively new lodge and they have a variety of rooms and even a budget-friendly glamping tent.
This is the perfect place to relax for a few days to enjoy the surrounding nature and gardens.
