The citadelle de Bitche is a beautiful castle in the Mosel region of France. At the foot of the citadelle, you can park up your van or RV and spend a peaceful night at the site. The citadelle de Bitche is an excellent location for vanlife in France.
We enjoyed a quiet night in Bitche and went out for the same, scenic walk a few times during our stay.
The camper place is located at the parking lot of the citadelle de Bitche. There are 5 spots that are separated of the main parking lot, tucked away behind the building that is present at the parking lot.
I think this building serves as a market place during non-pandemic times, but it was closed when we were there. The same building also offers toilets, but these were closed as well.
The camper place offers 5 steady pitches, separated by hedges, offering enough privacy. If these places are occupied, you can easily find more space to park up in the rest of the parking lot. We were lucky to get one of the designated pitches, but other campers arrived later and they used the parking lot and the field at the site.
The camper place also gives access to a servicing area where you can get rid of grey an black water for free. You can also fill up on water, but this service is paid. Bins are available all over the parking lot, so there’s no need to leave trash anywhere!
