Camping at the camper place Ebensee in Austria

Ebensee is one of these stunning places on earth. We wished we had more time when we passed through! Don’t forget to take your photography gear, because this camper place near Ebensee in Austria is just amazing!

Also, it’s an amazing place for water sports: kite surfing, swimming, sun bathing and other beach side things can be done here!

We passed by the other camper place when we arrived in Ebensee. There is one near the bridge, called Wohnmobil-Stellplatz Trauneck. That one is located near the marine and we didn’t like the place nearly as much as this one! But, if you like to be in a more central location, surrounded by restaurants and stores, then Trauneck might be a fit for you.

Both parkings can be used as a camper place and you can spend the night there in your self-sufficient camper or van. But, both places are paid. At the time of writing this, the price is 20€ for 24 hours. There is, however a service area where you can get water and dump your grey and black water.

Even though this place is not a free camper place, it’s one you can’t skip when traveling through Austria by camper van.

Hiking options

The Ebensee area offers tons of hiking possibilities, especially if you’re an experienced hiker. The area is very mountainous, so the hikes are pretty steep as well. Unfortunately, we didn’t try them.

What we did:

We arrived pretty late in the afternoon and enjoyed a beer in the evening sun.

The next morning we followed instructions of a local guy and drove to Langbathsee, which is a few kilometers away. Langbathsee is a stunning place to go for a walk. The path is flat and easy to walk.

Don’t go there on a sunny Sunday afternoon, like we did. There will be thousands of people then!

We saw that there were a few campers on the free parking lot, but there’s also a sign: prohibited to spend the night.

Is it dog-friendly?

The Ebensee camper place is not extremely dog friendly. All of the beach areas have a sign: no dogs allowed on the beach!

So, in the pictures you see in this post, we’re acting out illegally. FYI, there were other people with their dog on the beach. I’m not sure if people care about these signs, but they give us a bad feeling!

Besides the beach, there are not too many options for dog walking, as the camper place is in a residential area.

We did manage to find a spot where we could let Jack do his thing. Always clean up after your dog!
